It
is common in science fiction that humans disappear from Earth.
But
what would happen if humans disappeared one day without a trace? The planet
will survive, but how?
In
fact, in just a few hours, the lights around the world will turn off because of
power plants will run out of fuel, and the solar panels, if they are the
source, will be covered with soil and dirt. The only engines that will keep
running are those that are hydroelectric.
Pets
and animals on farms that are tied up will die and those inside the prisons and
closed stables will die and the rest leave their prisons in search of food. But
some may become prey to other larger-sized animals. Human-dependent animals
such as rats and cockroaches will decrease significantly.
About
a month after humans disappeared from the planet, cooling water in nuclear
power plants will evaporate. This would lead to a series of disasters around
the world, so it will be stronger than Fukushima and Chernobyl.
A
year after humans disappeared from Earth, satellites orbiting the Earth will
begin to fall from their orbits.
After
about twenty-five years, vegetation spreads the surface of the globe, while
some cities will be buried under thick layers of sand. The Panama Canal
disappears as vegetation progresses, and the Americas may be reunited.
Vegetables decompose to a stage where they become inedible.
One
hundred years after humanity disappeared from Earth, all animals considered to
be endangered species will regain their number to the original before human
evolution. However, their distribution will be very different since it is people
who have made them in different regions.
Three
hundred years later, buildings made of metal, bridges, and towers begin to
deteriorate and collapse due to corrosion.
Five
hundred years later, the city's suburbs will invade the forest. Trees and
plants will begin to grow between leftovers, kitchen utensils, aluminum, and
stainless steel.
Plastic
is a substance that will remain for some time on our planet, where bacteria
cannot absorb this type of waste, which is why plastic has been deposited in
sediments for millions of years.
About
ten thousand years after the disappearance of humans, all traces of advanced
civilization disappeared. The only remains of millions of years of human
journeys can be found on the moon.
Ancient
structures such as China Great Wall or Mount Rushmore can live for at least
100,000 years. The Great Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx will be one of the last
permanent structures on the planet's surface, suggesting that the earth was
once inhabited by unknown beings with an advanced ancient civilization.
However, these buildings and structures are likely to be covered with hundreds
of meters of dirt and soil.
